L Tartaric Acid:-

In order to fulfill the variegated demands of our clients, we are offering L Plus Tartaric Acids. It can be prepared by recovering it from tartar, a substance which is produced during the production. However, the crude tartar is as a rule contaminated by organic material, which results from the production. To obtain the tartaric acid from the tartar, expensive preparation is necessary. It is a white crystalline diprotic organic acid, which occurs naturally in many plants, particularly grapes, bananas, and tamarinds. This is also added to other food in order to give a sour taste and can be used as an antioxidant. Salts of tartaric acid are known as tartrates. It is a dihydroxy derivative of succinic acid. This was first isolated from potassium tartrate, known to the ancients as tartar, c. 800 by the Islamic Alchemist Jabir ibn Hayyan.

  • The most important field of application is the food industry in which it is used as emulsifyer for industrial baking, as natural acidifyer and as preserver, as ingredient for baking powders, biscuits, candles, gelatines, jams and soft drinks

  • Pharmaceutical industry is the other strategical field for natural l (+) tartaric acid, which is used in various formulations for antibiotics, effervescent powders and tablets, drugs for heart diseases and therapic compounds against AIDS

  • Natural L (+) tartaric acid is also used in several cosmetic applications


  •     Harmful if swallowed

  •     May cause irritation

  •     Avoid breathing vapors, or dusts

  •     Use with adequate ventilation

  •     Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothes

  •     Wash thoroughly after handling

  •     Keep container closed

  •     Wash exposed area with soap and water

  •     If irritation persists, seek medical attention

  •     Wash eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lids occasionally

  •     Seek medical aid

  •     Inhalation: Remove to fresh air

  •     If not breathing, give artificial respiration

  •     If breathing is difficult, give oxygen

  •     If swallowed, induce vomiting immediately after giving two glasses of water

  •     Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person
